How Nature Can Help ADHD Children
After exhaustive studies, the medical fraternity has discovered a simple remedy for the growing numbers of children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) – Mother Nature.
Interacting with a natural environment is as effective as drugs
The really startling factor that will have parents of ADHD children whooping for joy is how the great outdoors rivals Ritalin when it comes to improving dwindling concentration levels. Green environments can and do have a significant impact on the well-being of your child without having to resort to drugs, which all have negative side effects in some form or another.
Studies conducted at an American university and published in the Journal of Attention Disorders indicated that children are able to concentrate better and for longer periods of time after they have been in and interacted with a pleasing natural habitat like a city park, golf estate or conservation area.
However, when the same subjects were placed in both rather slumberous residential areas and the more bustling central business districts, they failed to exhibit the same heightened levels of concentration.
City environments demand more interpretation
City environments appear to require a lot more interpretation by the affected child and are consequently rather tiring for them. In fact, researchers have dubbed urban areas fatiguing environments, compared to the restorative elements of a natural one.
Add to this newfound knowledge the unequivocal fact that ADHD kids focus better when they ‘re on the move and taking your attention-bereft child to natural play areas, or even areas where they can participate in a particular sport like cricket or soccer fields, should provide a double whammy for their improvement.
Parents have reported how an activity as simple as gardening has had positive effects on the development of their child. Many of us find working with the soil and enjoying the warmth and bounty of nature therapeutic, but it is those actions that engage more than a single sense that are particularly helpful to the child diagnosed with ADHD. Gardening ropes in a number of senses, including olfactory, tactile and visual as well as prompting our kids to move around and be active – all of which are natural elixirs for the hyperactive.
The easy answer is an active life in a pleasant natural milieu
The easy answer to the improved health and well being of any child living with ADHD is quite simply an active life in a pleasant natural environment. So if your child happens to be one of the ADHD statistics, the solution appears to be simple – pack those bags and head for rural surroundings, such as small holdings, farms or golf property estates.
Kingswood Golf Estate in George offers pristine golf property in a protected family resort with a championship golf course, nature, wildlife and beaches on the Garden Route.
Golf and Health go Hand in Hand
Golf in the main is a gentle and, most of all, a very good sport for our bodies. Playing regularly provides the body with an overall work out, which in a short space of time is evident in our physical appearance. A number of health benefits from playing golf are discussed briefly in this article.
Combating the stresses and strains, Golf in the main is not too physically demanding on the body, but it does require the concentration levels to be high. This provides a great outlet from the everyday challenges we are faced with and can often be very therapeutic, with surrounding scenery and the fresh air helping to relieve tension.
Keeping fit. The positive benefits of making a repetitive swing between 70 and 100 times around, along with the distances covered on foot, all combine to eat up in excess of 1000 calories. This amount of activity controlled over 4 hours and 10Km, amounts to a very controlled gentle workout.
Children. Today, children as young as 4 are being taught how to play golf in Saturday and Sunday classes, by young aspiring professionals. It is now very common to see young men playing off single figure handicaps, and regularly competing for the major honours available throughout the season. Helping to suggest that the younger generation are keeping fit and enjoying the benefits of an out door activity.
Adults. Which other sport allows such a wide range of ages and genders to compete on a level playing field, and for us all to feel the benefits or regular exercise. For the over 40 adult, it is important to warm up before playing golf to prevent pulled muscles. A correct golf swig will not cause the body an injury, but it is wise to strengthen the torso, back and thigh muscles in order to further prevent injury.
Equipment, Golfing equipment has moved on a tremendous amount since the games inception, as has the accessories that are now available. Perhaps the most important of these accessories to your enjoyment of the game, both in term of game improvement and the overall benefits to your health is the golf trolley. An electric golf trolley also contributes to your performance by helping you to maintain muscle control, balance and body symmetry throughout the entire game. Pushing or pulling a heavy trolley strains your muscles and people who pull their carts have the maximum chance of getting a back sprain. The ultimate result is that you fail to make the best strokes that might have got you a birdie. An electric Golf trolley, as the name suggests, is a battery operated automatic cart that could be either manual or remote control. It provides easy transportation of clubs from tee to green and allows a normal upright posture while walking. This reduces the risk of strains and injuries. This also provides added comfort and helps the golfer to concentrate on his swing.
There are many benefits of using a powered caddy over a traditional pull trolley. With the manual option, you are required to walk around in a bent forward and twisted position. Which after a while can in my experience cause back and shoulder pain, thus negating the benefit of a trolley?

Life at the Golf Course
Have you ever thought you would like to live at the golf course? What would life really be like on the 14th hole?
Residential golf communities are an increasingly popular option for homeowners, as families search for peaceful communities to live in. Even the pricey yearly homeowner’s fees don’t dissuade people from buying into, what the developers are calling, not just a lifestyle but a way of life.
Golf communities have been compared by some to Mayberry-like neighborhoods, where neighbors know each other, and parents feel good about letting their children play in the street with other kids. In fact, these communities are drawing lots of young families with children. And now younger families are able to afford a golf course home.
A home in a golfing community has become much more affordable in recent years. Although million dollar homes are certainly still available for purchase, so are homes that start in the mid $400,000’s or town homes that are half that cost.
But all good things come at a price so don’t expect a home with individuality and character for that price.
Cookie cutter houses are what you get at almost all residential golf communities with maybe two or three plans to choose from.
At the Brier Creek Country Club in Raleigh, NC you can choose one of the plans to have built and then can add a few customized features to make your house feel less standard. However, the wooded lots and spacious floor plans go a long way in making your home feel less average and more individual.
An unusual trend that golf communities are seeing is that plenty of homeowners in these areas don’t even own a single golf training aid!
In fact, some residential golf community managers estimate that as many as 65% of their residents don’t play the game much less invest in golf equipment. This just serves to prove that you don’t have to love the game to love the lifestyle.
There are many more things that make these kinds of communities attractive. Homeowners love that property values in these types of communities are steadily rising all over the country.
Having someone else manicuring your backyard is also a plus. And the camaraderie of living around likeminded people can be a comfort.
Living on a golf course is definitely expensive, even with the less expensive home models. If you choose to live in this type of community you have to view it as an investment, but for a growing number of people -it’s worth it.

How to Stay Focussed on the Golf Course
When we are born we enter this world without fear and full of hope and innocence. What then happens as we grow is that our minds are filled with the rules and beliefs of others – parents, our friends, teachers and so on.
This is the way we learned our beliefs through childhood. We are basically the sum total of what others think.
What we perceive as right or wrong, good or bad, what is acceptable and what is not has all been programmed into us by others. Is it little wonder that so few of us do not have a strong sense of ‘self’.
Golf is a truly amazing game because for you to excel, that is precisely what you need.
What happens though, is if we are not careful we become victims of other people’s opinions. Is it little wonder that whilst we have been growing up, that listening to others has become an acceptable way to learn. The difference is when we are children although we have the opportunity to choose what we want to believe we just simply believe everything an adult tells us.
As adults, however, it is a completely different story. We do have the choice not to listen to others, but after a lifetime of taking in information this way we have lost the ability to trust our own feelings, thoughts and reactions.
We train our children much like we would train a pet dog. We use a system of punishment and reward. If you are a good boy or girl you received praise and good things, if you were bad then you were punished. This is how we learn to ‘people please’ as we quickly understand that the rewards are far more enjoyable than the punishment.
The rewards would take the form of getting positive attention and the punishment would most certainly include some form of rejection. Rejection is the NUMBER ONE fear of human beings. It has been so successfully used in our formative years that it is difficult to break the beliefs that have set us up for a lifetime of pleasing others.
We understand that if we go against these ‘rules’, then we suffer. Unfortunately, by the time we are able to take back the control in our lives and decide for ourselves what rules we want to live by we have been programmed into a certain way of thinking and behaving.
How important someone else’s opinion is to you will directly affect your self-esteem and confidence. By giving someone else the POWER to build you up or knock you down with a single comment, opens you up to a lifetime of low self-esteem and poor confidence.
This is never more true than on a Golf Course. You have the choice to allow someone else to affect your mood and how you feel about yourself.
So what can you do about it?
It’s up to you to catch yourself when someone has made a negative comment that could potentially change your mood. Ask yourself whose opinion matters the most, ‘how you feel about yourself or what Derek may or may not think!’
The first step is to NOT TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY!
This is a new skill, so please do not be too hard on yourself. It takes time to stop reacting the way you always have done. It is up to you to make a conscious decision that you want to change how you feel about yourself and then to take the steps to do something about it.
The only person you can CONTROL in this process is YOU! If someone makes some comment that is not out of care and respect for you and could potentially make you feel bad about yourself – it says more about THEM than it does about YOU.
Maybe they are having a bad game and indirectly they are having a go at their own abilities. Whatever the intention it is not up to you to analyse it. This is time consuming and based on ASSUMPTIONS! We all know what can happen when we make assumptions. This type of behaviour will do nothing to help you build up your self-esteem and work on your own confidence and above all else it will take your mind AWAY from the task in hand. Staying focused on playing a great shot.
Also remember when you are standing on the first tee, I assure you the golfers around you are worrying about their first tee shot as much if not more than you. We humans tend to get wrapped up in our own ‘personal importance’ far too much. This is the greatest expression of selfishness as we feel that everything is about ‘me’.
It may come as a shock to you but those watching you tee off are living their own ‘personal importance’ nightmares. Comments from them about you are only highlighting their own fears and beliefs and are not a personal attack on you!
If you start to take on everyone else’s emotional garbage then it will become yours. You will then be stuck in a cycle of personal self-talk that will try and support what you think they should believe. Whilst you are trying to control what others are thinking and believing (incidentally YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO THIS!) you have once more given away your control. Your need to be right and to change the minds of others will create one more nail in your coffin of low personal self-esteem.
In the same way, as what you say and do to others is a reflection of your personal rules or beliefs, these have nothing to do with anyone but yourself.
REMEMBER: It is not important what someone else thinks of you – it is important what you think of you. If you know WHO you are and WHAT you want, then WHAT someone else thinks about you does not matter. If you remove the need to be accepted your self-esteem and confidence will soar.
TIP: The next time some says or does anything that offends you say to yourself –
I am not going to take this personally. Whatever you think about me is your problem. It is based on your own personal rules and beliefs that are not mine, which is absolutely fine. I know that with that comment or action you are dealing with your own fears about yourself. Nothing you think or do is about ME it is about YOU!
It is time to make 2009 the year that you are going to take responsibility for your own personal growth, to support and encourage your own self-esteem, and to create the confident, successful golfer and person that is within you.

Get Coached In the Mountains With Colorado Golf Schools
Most golfers never consider Colorado golf schools when they are looking for some coaching. It’s probably fair enough if they are just looking for some straight instruction to resolve a problem that they may have. In that case there seems little point in travelling to Colorado.
However, have you considered combining some essential golf instruction with a winter vacation in Colorado? Winter is the ideal time for getting your game together and having these niggling problems sorted out, unless of course you live in one of the hot desert states such as Arizona or Nevada. Then, the summer is probably the best time for you to visit Colorado!
It’s Not All Golf: Try some Snowboarding or White Knuckle Tobogganing!
Colorado offers great vacations all year round, and you can combine golf with a multitude of great winter sports, even in summer! The kids will love tobogganing, ice skating and snowboarding while your partner, wife or husband might like a bit skating or even be adventurous and go for a biathlon skiing with a gun! Or perhaps that’s going a bit too far!
If you live down in the south you are certainly not going to travel to Colorado just for a golf school. Although David Peltz has a golf school in Colorado, all the rest of his schools are down south, apart from The Homestead in Michigan. No, you travel to Colorado for the scenery and skiing, not only for the golf. Colorado is the ideal state for a golfer with a family that wants a great winter vacation. You can get yourself sorted out in time for the new golf season in the spring while everybody else has a fabulous time on the slopes.
It’s not all slopes, though. Denver is a great place for shopping, and was the setting for the TV soap, Dynasty. Whether or not that is a good advert for Denver is a matter of personal choice, though Colorado is one of the 33 oil-producing states in the USA. Don’t worry though; it does not result in black snow! The snow in Colorado is pristine white and a joy to ski on, and the children can build massive snowmen in mid-summer.
Combine your Golf Schooling with your Annual Vacation
How do you normally spend your vacations, and how many do you take a year? Most people can afford only one, and professional golf instruction can be pretty expensive. If you combine the two you can cut costs dramatically, and there are plenty of golf instruction packages that allow you to bring your family and make it your annual vacation. The winter sports detailed above are great fun for the family while you are on the golf course, and the entertainment available throughout the day and evening is also up to anything you can find at any summer vacation resort.
All of the Colorado resorts provide golf instruction plus entertainment and fun for all of your family. It makes no difference if your children are young or teenagers…or even if you have none!
The golf instruction you receive will be as professional as anywhere else in the USA; the golf courses are considerably more scenic with all these mountains, lakes and forests, and nobody in your family or group will ever have the time or opportunity to be bored.
Colorado golf schools and resorts are geared for the visitor rather than the residents. They understand and appreciate the fact that you have a made special effort to book with them and treat you accordingly.

The Junior Set Of Golf Clubs
Many manufacturers make golf clubs for juniors. Nike, Ping, Taylor Made and Accu-Length. If a child wants to learn the game of golf, it is best to start with the proper set of golf clubs. The proper golf clubs will make it easier to develop a stance, posture and swing to enjoy the game. Practicing with the clubs on a driving range with some type of instruction is going to be the best way to become accustom to the golf clubs before actually playing a round of nine holes. It is wise to start with nine holes verse eighteen holes until, the child starts to show improvement in the game.
Most people looking for junior golf clubs do not look at Accu-Length, but they should. These golf clubs are made to grow as the child grows. They are expandable clubs. By using spacers, the clubs can be lengthened as the child grows. This is a bargain, since children grow quite fast sometimes. Having a set of clubs that grows with the child will save you as the parent some money. You will have the proper fit, weight and flex in the clubs to fit any child who is learning the game.
The Ping set of clubs will give you the trademark ping and comes in two different junior sizes for different age groups. They have the Moxie for nine to eleven year olds and the Pal for children six to eight years of age. The thing with these clubs is they are not adjustable and you will need to replace the clubs as the child grows. Ping is a great golf club and as potential for helping the young golfer develops the swing to get the ball, a good distance. You will spend some money every few years if you decide on Ping golf clubs.
Nike has developed the junior golf clubs in three different sizes. They have the Eagle, Birdie Blue and the Par Red series with the Red series. The clubs go according to the child’s height. Again, you will spend more on clubs as they grow. Depending on the age and height of the child who is starting out, you could end up trading up three times before the child stops growing. Nike is a reputable manufacturer of golf clubs even so. It will be a matter of preference and desire as what type of manufacturer you prefer for golf clubs.
Taylor Made golf clubs are made for three different heights. They are also made for swing speeds that are slower as well as the smaller built of a child. If consider all these different manufacturers, one seems to stand out among the rest. Accu-Length is going to be a money saver, it is a great club and it allows for adjustment anytime the height of the golfer chances. The golf clubs are designed to help develop the game and learn as you go. The choice is always up to you as the parent and the junior who is going to use them for the game.

Why, oh why, is the Golf Swing SO hard?! Giving insight to frustrated Golfers
An excerpt from the book Golf Swing Eureka by Jon Barrett – www.golfswingeureka.com
I’ve inserted this section in as I believe it may help you understand why we find the golf swing so hard.
Why do we find a move that seems so easy to the professionals so incredibly difficult to perform?
Recently I discovered that psychologists believe that we learn differently as adults than we do when we were children. And I believe this may be the key to explaining why we have such a difficult time of it.
The large majority of professional golfers will have taken up golf when they were kids – Tiger Woods was swinging a club well at 3!
But, I would imagine the majority of amateur golfers took golf up when either in their late teens, early twenties or even later in life – as adults.
The psychologists believe that as children we learn from repeating the model that we see – we know that kids are very trusting of what they are told. Yes, they ask lots of questions but they trust the answers given. They see, and are told, and DO.
Now as adults we learn differently. We have already formed opinions about how the world is and how things operate. So when we learn something new we actually test it against the rules that we have already built up in our heads as to what is right and wrong.
Unfortunately for us, the golf swing is actually illogical. That’s where the problem stems from. In our heads we can’t actually accept or believe that that is how the golf swing works. We then trust our instinct and test it against our rules and go back to what we believe is logical.
Here is what is illogical about the golf swing:
A Golf Swing without Effort = A Powerful 300 yard drive
It’s been said before that the secret to the pros swing is that it achieves ‘Power WITHOUT Effort – how illogical is that!
It’s a bit like saying we’re going on a 200 mile car journey, but we’re not going to turn the engine on! No ones going to believe you.
That’s how our brains interpret it – we think there’s no way you can hit a golf ball 300 yards without LOTS of effort.
So next time we coil up on the backswing our brain tells our muscles ‘right guys we need plenty of effort if we’re going to send this ball long and straight’.
Pro’s do actually put effort into their swings to get the ball to go that far (look at Tiger Woods face just before impact and you’ll see what I mean) BUT they put it in at a completely different point in the swing to amateur golfers. They also know the technique that allows them to produce such great results – and it doesn’t involve power, certainly not how the amateur golfer understands it.
Amateur golfers think you need to start the golf swing powerfully BUT the pro golfers know that you put the effort in at the bottom of the swing.
If you try and take this point on board this will start the process of adjusting your mind.
Over the next few pages I’m going to OPEN your EYES to how the golf swing actually works – much of which us amateurs don’t appreciate.
Understanding is the 1st key to unlocking your golfing potential.
Towards the end of my book I’ll show you where to get a piece of software that will by-pass your conscious mind and reprogram your sub-conscious mind to believe what you will see and start to understand about how the pro golf swing works. How YOU can swing powerfully without effort.
EYE-OPENER No. 2
What part of the body contributes the most
to generating the maximum speed of the club head?
This single answer allowed me to make a huge leap in my understanding of the golf swing, and in everything I had seen and read about the golf swing none of it emphasised it enough.
I carried out a survey on the Internet over several weeks and asked visitors to my web site the question:- What part of the body contributes the most to generating the maximum speed of the club head?
Only 20% got the answer correct – That’s only 1 in every 5 golfers! And these golfers had a wide range of handicaps down to single figures.
Interestingly this figure corresponds to another golfing statistic – Did you know that only around 20% of golfers have a handicap of less than 18? It made me wonder whether the misunderstanding of the fundamental aspect could be the one thing that is holding so many golfers back.
Which part of the body do you think creates the maximum speed of the club head?
Is it:
Shoulders
Arms
Hands
Hips
Legs
Torso
wrists
(Graphics and explanations omitted here)
….So the answer to the question that I posed above is that it is the hands (or wrists) that contribute the most to generating the maximum club head speed. The club is moved through over 180 degrees whilst the arms move through less than 60 degrees – all of the rest of the movement of the head of the golf club is generated by the movement of the hands. Unfortunately the large majority of golfers think that it is with the shoulders and arms. I’ll come back to this point later as even when you get everything else right in your swing this can be a real good swing killer!
Find out the details and much more in Jon’s Eye Opening ebook: Golf Swing Eureka – www.golfswingeureka.com
Jon Barrett WAS a frustrated golfer and has studied the golf swing for 5 years in search of the information that would make his scores tumble but without success… UNTIL he discovered what only 1% of amatuer golfers know about the Pro’s golf swing… Read all about his eye opening concepts you won’t find in standard swing advice now… Golf Swing Eureka – www.golfswingeureka.com

It is an equestrian area, and many equestrian activities are available such as horse riding and lessons, horse jumping and so on. There are many lakes nearby and boating, canoeing and other water sports are offered. Fishing and hunting are popular, but perhaps not with the younger children. They may prefer tennis and there is also carting and bowling nearby.
Should the family want something offering more in the way of holiday fun, Myrtle Beach with its great beaches and funfairs is only a short trip away, and the nightlife at Myrtle Beach is superb.
There’s an Affinity between Pinehurst and Scotland
However, it is for the golf that people vacation in Pinehurst, and several packages are available to suit individuals, groups and family groups. The village is where Ben Hogan won his first pro tournament, and the first courses were designed by, or modified by, the great Scottish course designer, Donald Ross. There is great Scottish tradition in Pinehurst any many Scots feel an affinity with the town.
The golf schools in Pinehurst include The Pinehurst Golf Academy where you can make bookings for a golf school vacation from March to November, which is great way of getting some golf in while improving your game. You can use them to get some badly needed tuition in the fall so you are ready for the new season in the spring. It’s a great alternative to a summer golfing vacation.
If your whole family loves golf, Pinehurst would make a great vacation and the food is excellent with Japanese and other forms of international cuisine as well as the traditional American fare. You could try some Mexican for a change, though the kids might prefer a burger or hot dog.
Pinehurst Offers Golf Schools for the Beginners
You can get special family deals on the courses, and there are plenty of practice facilities available. The golf schools are good for the complete beginners in your group, but make sure you book places well in advance. The Nike Golf School is a form of camp and is great of the younger children. If you book your youngsters into the Nike camp to learn the game, and yourself and your partner into a Pinehurst resort, you get the best of both.
You both enjoy your golf, while your youngsters enjoy the camp while learning how to play. It won’t be long till they are joining you on the big courses on your next golfing vacation. Pinehurst golf vacations have a lot to offer if you think about what there is and use the resources to your best advantage.

Men And Women Golfing Together
Men have been playing golf for years, but you do not hear much about women playing golf as much as you do men. The fact is that women have been playing golf as long as men have. Some of the world’s best women golfers are deceased now, but in their time, they were the top leaders in the game of golf. Today, you will see just as many women golfers on a golf course as you do men. There are even women’s golf clubs, shoes and other accessories. Men and women have developed a mutual understanding that women are sometimes just as good if not better than the men are.
Most men start playing early in life, where some women wait until later in life to take up the game. You will see couples going away for golf weekends or even golf vacations. It is a fine day to spend enjoying a game that you both find relaxing and enjoyable. Women as well as men play the same courses with the same amount of ease. If you have ever seen the professionals play, you know that women put as much effort into their game as men do.
Women as well as men are providing golf lessons for children and adults who want to learn the game of golf. Many of these professionals have their own golf courses and schools that you can go to learn from a professional. Golf is a funny game if you really think about it. You go out on the grass and hit a ball around the course while trying to beat the par for one hole and sink a ball into a small hole. It sounds funny that adults would find this so appealing, but the point is golf is a popular sport that has more players than the NFL football you watch every week.
Golf for men and women as well as children takes a level of skill. You have to line up the ball and the driver to make your way down the fairway. This is not as easy as it sounds. You have to hold the club right, stance is important and you have to have some power to drive the ball a great distance. Once you land on the green, you have to use a putter to put the ball into a small hole. The greens and fairways are not always flat, you have angles, hills, water, sand bunkers and even some rough terrain around the courses.
If you think you need to find a hobby, golf is for the most part relaxing and it is something you can do with your partner. You can start out practicing on the driving range, which is nice for improving your swing and distance. Women and men both enjoy golfing and find it to be a sort that can involve the entire family. There are still a handful of golf courses that cater to men only, but this is far less than years ago. Women and men are welcome at the golf course for tournaments and a leisure game of golf.
Junior Golf Instruction – How To Start Your Child
Your kids are getting to the age that they would like to start to play golf and you are wondering when to start a junior golf instruction program. Knowing when to start and how to find the right junior golf lessons for a child are crucial components to building an environment for your child to enjoy and succeed in the game of golf.
Begin by asking yourself, not your junior, some questions about what your motivation might be for getting their junior golf lessons. Four reasons that parents want junior golf lessons for their young child (under eleven) typically are the following:
Because of golf’s reputation for rules, fair play and self-policing, the parents have a genuine interest in seeing their children attempt to play the game.
A babysitting service, parents get a time out from their kids for a while.
Parents want to spend more time with their child and have decided that golf will be the vehicle to do this.
As so many do, parents feel that their children must be in as many activities as possible.
Whatever your reasons are for wanting your child to begin to play the game of golf, the important thing is to ensure the kids have fun and enjoy themselves. Golf is a great game that can teach your child many life skills and is a game they can play the rest of their life.
The most important thing to do is ask your child if playing golf is something that they would like to do. If the answer is no, do not push them to play. You do need to make sure that they understand the option is always open for them to play. It make take you asking multiple times and giving them the information they need to feel comfortable to begin playing the game.
Once your child decides that they do want to play golf here are some steps to take to get them started and to keep the game fun for them:
Begin with a real junior set of clubs. Many people think that by making a club shorter it will fit a junior golfer. This is NOT true. You need to find a company that specially and properly weights their junior golf clubs depending on the size of your child. In addition, you do not need to buy a whole set. Most companies will allow you to purchase junior clubs one at a time.
Find a qualified junior golf instructor. You can contact your local PGA Section or a local club or golf course either by phone or online. If a Certified PGA Professional is available in your area, he or she would be a good place to start.
Make sure that your series of junior golf lessons include sessions on the rules of golf as well as golf etiquette. Depending on their age, the rules and etiquette situations do not need to be deep in the heart of the rule book. It has always amazed me on what a child at any age can retain when they want to learn.
Your junior does not have to play a “real golf hole” to have fun. Make the putting green the goal. This is a good way for the younger junior golfers to get started and as it reads only count the shots that it takes to get to the green to determine a score.
The hole does not need to be the end of the hole. What does this mean? Some smaller juniors find it more fun to hit it into a bunker than onto a green.
This may seem counter-intuitive to many golf purists however, once you think about it, typically the bunkers are smaller than the putting greens. This can only make them better later. In addition, they LOVE to climb into the bunkers and this gives us a chance to teach bunker etiquette.

Tips For Planning a Jamaica Golf Vacation
Are you an avid golfer? If you are, you may be interested in planning a golf vacation. While you have an unlimited number of destinations to choose from, Jamaica is one that you should closely examine.
As nice as it is to hear that Jamaica is a great destination for a golf vacation, you may be wondering why. For starters, Jamaica is a popular vacation destination that is filled with a number of high-quality resorts. This means that if you are traveling with non-golfers, such as a spouse or children, there are an unlimited number of fun things for them to do while you enjoy the day on the green. It is also important to note that you will not spend 24 hours a day golfing, so be sure to pick a destination, like Jamaica, that you will enjoy.
When planning a Jamaica golf vacation, you will need to create a budget for yourself. This is important if you will be traveling on limited funds. Determine how much money you have to spend, even if it is just a generalized estimate. Next, determine how much you would like to spend on your overnight accommodations, food, drinks, golf, and other entertainment. This can make planning your trip much easier and more affordable, as you will be concerned with costs.
When planning a Jamaica golf vacation, you will want to wisely choose your vacation destination. Since you have already decided on Jamaica, that is a start, but where in Jamaica do you want to stay? To make your decision, you will want to examine the golf courses located on the island. For example, Montego Bay is home to the White Witch Golf Course.
In addition to the above mentioned Jamaica golf course, there are two that are located right on the premises of popular all-inclusive Jamaica resorts. Located at Runaway Bay, you will find the Breezes resort. It is home to an 18-hole golf course that is of PGA quality. About 15 minutes away, you will find the Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa, which is home to a 9-hole golf course. These two resorts should be closely examined, as there are a number of benefits to staying where you golf.
One of the benefits to staying at an all-inclusive Jamaica resort with an onsite golf courses is the saved time and money. When you are automatically paired with a quality golf course, you spend less time and money traveling. As previously stated, the Breezes resort which is located in Runaway Bay and the Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa are only 15 minutes apart. This means that you could easily enjoy two golf courses, without having to travel far. In fact, that is how you are encouraged to choose your resort. You want one that is centrally located.
Returning back to the Breezes at Runaway Bay and the Grand Lido Braco Resort and Spa, they are not only considered all-inclusive resorts, but super-inclusive resorts. This means that your stay includes more, but with no strings attached. If you have a spouse or children who will not be joining you in a game of golf, this can give you comfort and peace of mind in knowing they will not be bored or burdened with extra expenses back at the resort.
Next, it is important to determine when you want to travel to Jamaica for a golf vacation. Of course, the decision is yours to make, but you should keep the weather in mind. The good news is that the Caribbean is the perfect destination for a golf vacation, as the weather seems perfect just about all year round. The best temperatures in Jamaica are from May to September, as the weather is warmer. As for rain, Jamaica has two rainy seasons. Although rainfall totals are still considered low, these seasons are between May and June and then September and November.
When planning a Jamaica golf vacation, the above mentioned steps are just a few of the many you will want to take. As a recap, it is important to choose a destination that allows you to get the most out of your golf trip. That is why all-inclusive resorts should be examined.
Are Pre Owned Golf Clubs a Waster of Money?
Each and every day there are millions of dollars worth of pre-owned golf clubs being bought and sold all over the world. With that kind of activity, it can be safely assumed that there are many happy owners of used clubs and there will be many more to come.
But buying a set of used golf clubs can sometimes be much more than just a way to upgrade your game or add some new weapons to your arsenal, by buying pre-owned golf clubs you may be giving someone a chance at their dream.
Thanks to the popularity of such golfers as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, the game of golf has started to reach beyond the country clubs and deep into the heart of middle class America. Kids all over the country are seeing the exploits of their favorite golfer on television, and they get the urge to set out and play the game themselves.
Kids see the history of the game on television, the large crowds that come to see every tournament, and they see the pastoral appeal of golf and they compare that to their city or suburban life and they decide they want to play golf.
But brand new golf clubs are expensive, and the started kits that are offered are usually for very small children and they do not have nearly enough clubs in them for someone that really wants to learn the game.
The middle class parents of a young pre-teen that desperately wants to play the game could greatly benefit from the purchase of some pre-owned golf clubs. They want their children to get out and play golf for the discipline and sportsmanship it teaches, and they want their kids to be focused on something other than video games and gang activity.
Buying your child that first set of golf clubs is a magical moment, and your child will not even care that they are pre-owned golf clubs. They will just be ecstatic that they will get the chance to play the game of golf.
Giving your child used clubs helps them because the clubs are already broken in by someone with more experience, and this allows your child to learn the game with clubs that can conform to their swing rather than clubs that try to dictate the swing from being new. The idea of pre-owned golf clubs is something every middle class parent should consider, because you would rather have your child on the golf course than anywhere else.
Many times the first set of golf clubs a child receives from their parents are used, but they are still magical in the eyes of that child. Getting a set of pre-owned golf clubs opens up the whole world of golf to that child, and they can take that enthusiasm anywhere they choose.
If your child has a strong interest in golf but you have been discouraged by the cost of a new set of golf clubs, then consider getting them a set of pre-owned golf clubs. They will be golf clubs that your child will treasure forever, and they will be the keys to helping your child unlock their dreams of playing the game of golf.
Cobra Junior Golf Clubs
It’s never to early to get a youngster started playing the world’s greatest game. Maybe not as early as two years old, when Tiger Woods started playing, but by the age of six there is no reason why children can’t be out on the golf links. Tiger Woods actually shot a 48 over nine holes, at the Navy Golf Club in Cypress, California, when he was three years old.
Cobra Junior Golf sets ate a great way to give junior golfers a good first golfing experience.
These days, junior golf clubs are not just cut down versions of the adult models, but individual and complete sets of quality golf
clubs. While the shafts are naturally shorter, another major difference is swing speed. Children aren’t as strong as adults and,
therefore, swing the golf club slower.
The more flexible shaft compensates for the slow swing by whipping the club through the ball at a faster than a normal driver, fairway
wood or iron. While it is hard to produce a truly flexible shaft when the golf club is so short, the folks at Cobra golf have found the
technology works in every club in the junior’s bag.
However, unlike Tiger, junior golfers really don’t need every golf club in the bag. The primary focus should be on developing a good swing, not a great score. It is much better to hit a good 9 iron short of the green than a poor 3 iron that happens to bounce along the fairway and end up on the green. A great way to start is simply by hitting a seven iron in the back yard. Then add a driver, a fairway wood or metal, a wedge and naturally, a putter. When your junior begins to score well with those clubs, then consider filling out the complete set.
Junior golf clubs come in three or four basic age categories. Three to five years old for the Tiger wanna- be’s. Six to eight, which is a good age to start playing golf. Nine to eleven and eleven plus. There are also height guidelines if your junior is a little larger or smaller than average.
When buying junior golf clubs, make sure to purchase a junior bag. Junior bags are smaller and lighter. Lugging a too heavy golf bag and clubs around the golf course is a great way to discourage even the most ardent junior golfer.
Cobra Golf offers an excellent junior starter set that is custom designed for juniors in both the six to eight and nine to eleven age groups. Just like the adult models, each junior golf club is engineered with computerized design and high tech materials that match the juniors size and strength. The J/Speed Cobra set includes a King Cobra 300 cc driver and a King Cobra Baffler utility fairway metal. The irons are a stainless steel 7 iron and pitching wedge. An IM Series mallet putter rounds out the set. The bag is a lightweight stand model with dual carrying straps
Cobra even throws in a J/Speed hat to round out the junior golfer’s image..
Don’t forget to purchase the correct golf balls. Look for junior golf balls or ladies golf balls. Both are designed for lower swing speeds.
The good news about junior golf clubs is they are designed for youngsters. The bad news is, youngsters grow up. The shelf life of a set of junior golf clubs is only a few years, unless there is a younger brother or sister waiting in the wings.
If price is an important consideration, another option to consider is used junior clubs. An Internet online store is a great place to find Cobra and Callaway, Nike, Ping, Taylor Made and other brands of junior golf clubs. Used drivers, irons, fairway woods, metals and putters and complete sets of junior golf clubs are available at a cheap price.
Our favorite is Austads. Austads is a premium online store that offers junior golf clubs. Their price points are excellent. Take some time to compare offers and brands and select exactly the right junior golf club set for your junior Tiger Woods. And all from your computer room.

Jamaica Golf Vacations: How to Choose the Perfect Resort
Do you want to plan a Jamaica golf vacation? If so, you may soon start making your travel arrangements. Before deciding on a hotel or resort, there are a number of factors you will first want to take into consideration.
Onsite golf course. On the island of Jamaica, you will find a number of resorts with onsite golf courses. You should closely examine these resorts. Why? Because they can save you both time and money. When you are able to golf onsite, your travel time and expenses are significantly reduced.
All-inclusive resorts. In addition to Jamaica resorts with onsite golf courses, you are urged to examine all-inclusive or even super-inclusive resorts. These resorts come highly rated and recommended. Why? Because they include the cost of most of your trip. At an all-inclusive resort, it is common to find food, drinks, tips, and some forms of entertainment included.
Free green fees. As previously stated, all-inclusive and super-inclusive resorts should be examined. In addition to your food, drinks, and tips, you may find green fees included in the cost of your stay. Golf courses in popular vacation destinations, such as Jamaica, are nice, but they can get expensive. You can save a considerable amount of money when your green fees are free or already included in the cost of your stay, as you may have received a discount.
Low rental costs. If you are traveling to Jamaica for the sole purpose of golfing, you may bring your own golf clubs and balls with you. If not, you will need to rent this equipment. First, it is important to choose a Jamaica resort that has rentals available. Next, look for affordable equipment rental fees.
Golf cart rentals. In keeping with equipment, you may want to rent a golf cart. Typically, this is not included in the cost of your stay. Although extra, you should find affordable rates. You may even receive a discount if golfing on the resort you stay at. The good news is that on many Jamaica golf resorts, the use of a golf cart is optional.
Available caddies. At home, you may be content with carrying your own golf bag, but remember that you are on vacation. That is why a golf caddie is recommended. In fact, some resorts require them. Although required, it is not uncommon for you to be responsible for caddie fees. This fee may include a traditional usage fee or simply just a tip. If payment is required, look for affordable options.
Distance between other courses. If your Jamaica vacation is a week or more, you may wish to golf on other courses to reduce boredom. If so, look for Jamaica resorts and golf courses that are in close proximities. For example, there is a 9-hole course at Grand Lido Braco Resort and an 18-hole course at Breezes Runaway Bay. These resorts are fifteen minutes apart and, when a guest, free transfer is provided. This can reduce your travel time and expenses, allowing for more time on the green.
Your traveling party. Are you traveling to Jamaica with a group of friends for the sole purpose of golf? If so, your resort choice should be based solely on golf. On the other hand, if your Jamaica golf vacation doubles as a family vacation, it is important to take your traveling party into consideration. If traveling with small children, look for Jamaica resorts that not only have onsite golf courses, but possibly scheduled events for children, swimming pools, playgrounds, or indoor game rooms.
Costs. Since most Jamaica resorts that have onsite golf courses are classified as all-inclusive or super-inclusive resorts, the overall cost of your stay will seem quite high. With that said, it is important to dissect your Jamaica travel package. If the cost of room, food, drinks, tips, and green fees are included, you will pay more. With that said, you will get more in return. You can easily examine individual components of your travel package to ensure you are getting the best deal. In fact, you may even see that you are rewarded with discounts.
To start planning your next Jamaica golf vacation, visit SuperClubs.com. When doing so, keep green fees, equipment rental costs, caddie fees, location, your traveling party, and travel package costs in mind. This will allow you to find the resort that is the perfect fit for your next trip.
Junior Golf Equipments – The Choices Available
If you are looking towards a career in golf or a pastime for yourself or your children, you are in luck as far as equipment is concerned that is. There is no dearth of golf equipment available for you to choose form and the pricing varies too. So, if you are setting out and are new to the game of golf you do not have to go for the equipment that the pros use – start with the simple equipment and move up the ladder gradually.
Before setting out in your quest to become one of the pros of golf you should be aware of what the game requires, by way of ability and equipment. There are many different types of accessories that are available for the beginner to get a good debut in to the game.
These equipment ensure that the golfer develops the perfect stance and the perfect grip in order to develop that perfect swing of the club. There are clubs designed that will get the player used to holding any club in exactly the same manner and there are wrist straps and holders that ensure the beginner holds his wrists in the same way every time he or she picks up a golf club. Then there are leg guards than help the golfer shift their body weight in a perfect manner to get that perfect swing.
Once you have spent a considerable amount of time using the junior golf equipment and are comfortable with the rules and the techniques of the game you can graduate to the more advanced golf equipment. Being comfortable with the game means that you are physically and mentally prepared to take up the game of golf. Only in such circumstances is it possible for you to enjoy the game and excel at the game of golf. Children are very self conscious about any sport they take up. This is especially the case with the game of golf. They need to be prepared and guided every step of the way. This is the reason it is important that they have the mental support of their parents and their instructors when they take up the game of golf.
Among the various golf equipment that is available in the market some of them will seem obvious to the game and some will seem a bit less obvious. Naturally, requirements of the individuals will vary as far as golf balls and clubs is concerned. There is the basic equipment and there is the absolutely necessary golf equipment required to play a good game of golf. A golf bag is one of the necessary equipments that any golfer requires to get into the game of golf. A golf bag can carry all the golf equipment required by the golfer. In fact, a golf bag with wheels is one of the greatest investments a person can make as far as the game of golf is concerned. Junior golf clubs can be very heavy as well and it can become a drag carrying them around the place. A bag without wheels will mean having to hire the services of a caddy, now you don’t want to spend unnecessarily, do you?
So make the wisest of choices and invest in the proper equipment at the outset. This will make your game more enjoyable and make you an ardent golfer too.

Golf Basics For Children – Tips To Teach Your Child
While teaching kids golf, the game’s name is FUN. If you throw technical jargons at the child in the very beginning, then you will end up effectively killing the child’s curiosity. You must let the child play the game for fun and this way the kid will become a devout player for the rest of his life!
If you insist on several hours of practice, it may overwhelm the child. You should rather allow them to practice for a little while, maybe around 30 minutes. This way the child stays motivated to practice.
In the beginning it is perfectly allowed for them to hit the ball hard. Its part of the excitement! Do not worry too much about the child’s grip, just make sure that they have their right hand below the left hand while swinging.
You can also ensure the child has his or her feet planted firmly on the floor during the follow through.
When it comes to wanting to buy the kids a club set, you can try out women’s clubs. This is because they happen to be lighter and easier to handle for the kids. A 9 iron or 6 iron, women’s club and putter will be perfect to get started.
Your child can initially start playing by trying out small putting and chipping games. This would help the child to gain a feel of the club as well as the ball. They can also bounce away the ball and rather try hitting twigs or leaves.
To keep the motivations running high try out small games and contests. Competition and pressure should be avoided initially. This is to make sure your child enjoys the game and desires to play as often as they can, rather than getting unfocused and confused
As to what they should do and thus end up quitting in frustration.
The more encouraging you are, the more your kids enjoy your company. Do not demand wins and overtly emphasize on competition, because that way you will destroy their enthusiasm.
Children will play when they are ready. Let them make progress at a comfortable pace. Never force the child to play. The game is about fun and simple joy. Go right ahead and have fun with them!
In case your child becomes more interested then you could try a golf camp or maybe even private coaching. While selecting a personal coach first check out how the person teaches. The trainer must be encouraging and have a talent for teaching kids.
One more vital thing is to teach the kids the basics etiquettes of the game. They may be small things but they are very important…like they must not swing when someone else is already swinging. They need to wait, also they must not walk on someone else’s line.
Above all, do not criticize. Praise their swings and shots. Encouraging them to correct moves is fine but do not dwell on the mistakes.
Finally as long as you concentrate on the main aspects of the game, the basics and enjoyment, you will end up having your child rivaling you and enjoys a passionate and lifelong love for golf.

Junior Golf Instruction – When Should They Start?
A question we hear all of the time is “When should we start junior golf instruction for our junior golfer?” Obviously, there is no real answer. For example, you have Tiger that started at the tender age of three and other successful tour players started their junior golf instruction much later. With many differing opinions are out there about when to begin junior golf instruction, you must remember that opinions are like belly buttons and everyone has one! Hale Irwin was once quoted as saying, “If a parent brings a young child to a Pro and says I want him/her to be a Golf Professional, chances are they won’t be.” The two most important part to the answer the question of “When should we start golf lessons for our junior golfer?” is that no matter what age your junior golfer is to make sure golf is something the junior golfer wants to do and to keep it fun for them.
First, you need to ask yourself some questions about what your motivation might be for getting junior golf instruction? Typically, there are four reasons that parents want junior golf instruction for their young child (under eleven):
1. Because of golf’s reputation for rules, fair play and self-policing, the parents have a genuine interest in seeing their children attempt to play the game.
2. A babysitting service, parents get a time out from their kids for a while.
3. Parents want to spend more time with their child and have decided that golf will be the vehicle to do this.
4. As so many do, parents feel that their children must be in as many activities as possible.
Again, whatever the reasons, the important thing is to let the kids have fun, enjoy themselves and let them decide for themselves whether they want to play the game of golf or not.
Regardless of how brilliant parents think their child is, young children (under eleven) do not have the attention spans. However, they do like to have fun and to some hitting balls is fun. As soon as you make it a chore by hovering over them with instructions, they will not want to play the game anymore. Think about it, would you?
If you want your youngster to enjoy golf, then don’t force the action. If they want to hit balls, let them. If they want to pick golf balls up and throw them, as long as they will not disturb anyone else, let them. If they want to hit their ball into the bunker, let them. When you think about it, a bunker is much smaller than the green and in theory, much harder to hit. Depending on their age, let them tee it up from 100 yards or 150 yards. Again, keep it a positive experience and fun for the junior golfer.
If you do decide to take junior golf instruction the Golf Professional should concentrate mainly on short game, putting chipping etc. The Golf Professional should show you as well as your junior many different games that you can play to keep it fun. In the meantime, the games will instill solid fundamentals which will help you and your junior to improve!
